It cuts through the narrow Isthmus of Corinth and separates the Peloponnese from the Greek mainland, arguably making the peninsula an island. The canal was dug through the Isthmus at sea level and has no locks.

Visit the Ancient Theatre, world-famous for its outstanding acoustics. The famous ancient theatre of Epidaurus was constructed in the late 4th century BC, around the time when Athens was flourishing in art, philosophy, science and of course theatre and can seat more than 12,000 spectators.

One of the most beautiful towns in the area of Argolis (in eastern Peloponnese) as well as one of the most romantic cities all over Greece, Nafplio was the first capital of the newly born Greek state between 1823 and 1834.

Day 4: NAFPLIO-MYCENAE-OLYMPIA

Mycenae (Μυκήνες) is one of the most important archaeological sites of Greece. Visiting the famous Palace, the Lions Gate and the Tomb of King Agamemnon. Mycenae is the largest and most important center of the civilization that was named “Mycenaean” after this very citadel. Meals included: • Breakfast • Dinner

Accommodation included: Overnight at Olympia in 4* Hotel Day

5: OLYMPIA-DELPHI

Visit the archaeological site with the Temple of Zeus, the Temple of Hera, the altar of the Olympic flame, the Stadium and the archaeological museum. Olympia became the most important religious and athletic center in Greece. Its fame rests upon the Olympic Games, the greatest national festival and a highly prestigious one world-wide, which was held every four years to honor Zeus.

Visit Archaeological Museum of Olympia is a must, as it has some of the most important works of classical art such as the sculpted decoration of the temple of Zeus, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, the statue of Nike by Paionios and the famous Hermes of Praxiteles is major museum’s masterpieces. Equally important is the bronze collection, the richest of its kind in the world.

Meals included: • Breakfast • Dinner

Accommodation included: Overnight at Delphi or Itea in 4* Hotel

Day 6: DELPHI-KALABAKA

Delphi was truly a Pan-Hellenic site for the ancient Greeks; they all gathered here to celebrate Apollo and to get practical advice from the Pythia, the priestess. Aside from its historical importance, Delphi is a wondrously beautiful place. Morning visits the museum and the ruins of Delphi.

Delphi Archaeological Museum is one of the principal museums of Greece and one of the most visited. Mainly because of the breadth and quality of artifacts it includes. The permanent exhibition covers over a thousand years, from the Mycenaean era to the Greco-Roman times.

Day 7: KALABAKA-METEORA

Meteora is in a region of almost inaccessible sandstone peaks, monks settled on these ‘columns of the sky’ from the 11th century onwards. Twenty-four of these monasteries were built, despite incredible difficulties, at the time of the great revival of the eremetic ideal in the 15th century. Their 16th-century frescoes mark a key stage in the development of post-Byzantine painting.

Return to Athens, passing the heroic monument of Leonidas of Sparta at Thermopylae. The Battle of Thermopylae is one of the most important battles in Greek and world history.

Meals included: • Breakfast • Dinner

Accommodation included: Overnight at Athens in 4* in Hotel

Day 8: ONE DAY CRUISE FROM POROS-HYDRA-AEGINA

First, stop Poros. Poros’ neoclassical buildings ascend the town’s hill like seats in an amphitheater. Walking through the narrow alleyways, among whitewashed houses wrapped in bougainvilleas, you’ll travel back in time. Stop at Hydra, Hydra, Saronic Gulf Islands, Attica Hydra, built in the shape of an amphitheater on a slope overlooking the Argosaronic gulf, is one of the most romantic destinations in Greece. Traditional stone mansions, narrow cobblestoned streets, secluded squares and above all the banning of cars and the use of around 500 donkeys as means of public transportation, explain the reason why Hydra preserved its distinctive atmosphere through the passage of time.

Stop at Aegina. Even though the island small, it boasts a great number of sights and natural beauties, a highlight of which is the famous Aphaia Temple. It forms, in fact, an equilateral triangle with the Parthenon and the Temple of Poseidon at Sounion, the so-called “holy triangle” of antiquity. Over 34,000 Anzacs fought in Greece in 1941 and about half were Australian. They fought and walked nearly 1,000 kilometers of Greece’s mountainous terrain and engaged in the Battles of Vevi, Tempe, and Thermopylae/ Brallos.

The Battle of Crete

The Battle of Crete, known as Unternehmen Merkur or “Operation Mercury,” took place during World War II on the island of Crete. It began on May 20, 1941, when Nazi Germany launched an airborne invasion. Greek forces, along with other Allied forces and Cretan civilians, valiantly defended the island in what is considered the most dramatic battle fought by ANZAC forces.

Over 12 brutal days, ANZAC and the Allies faced a massive German airborne assault, coming close to succeeding in their defense. Crete enchants every visitor with its impressive landscapes and rich history, as well as the warmth of its people. You will visit important sites in Greece, including the Minoan palace of Knossos and the historic Arkadi Monastery, along with magnificent 15th-century churches. One lesser-known aspect is the story of the ANZAC Corps, which was formed to fight in Greece during World War II. This tour promises to be relaxed, friendly, and enjoyable.

After the wine tasting and tour, we will visit Epidaurus and the Asklepieion. The theater of Epidaurus is considered the finest ancient Greek theater in terms of acoustics and aesthetics. With a maximum capacity of 13,000 – 14,000 spectators, the theater hosted the musicians, song and drama struggles included in the worship of Asklepios.

The Asclepieion of Epidaurus became the most famous of all aspicides in ancient Greece because of the many and serious cases that were cured there. In this, they arrived from all over Greece and from the Mediterranean basin sick, begging of divine mercy. Its area was very large and it had hostels, a gym, a stage and the famous, for its acoustics, Theater, for the entertainment of the people.

Among the findings of the cave are human bones and earthenware utensils. One of the places in the cave of Kapsia has the name “Hall of the Wonders”. Explosive colors, red and yellow and blue create a work of art of incomparable beauty made of nature itself.
We will take the wine of Arcadia and we will visit two wineries.

What do you get when you combine Greek coffee, pastries and breads, sweets, Meze, and ouzo? The best introductions into Greek cuisine and culture, all on this tasty Thessaloniki tour.
• We will taste koulouri and bougatsa. While koulouri is fairly plain (but nonetheless delicious), bougatsa can be filled with almost anything cream, spinach, cheese, mince and much more. With both breads having a history that dates back to the Byzantine.
• A tour of the Modiano Market ,with charming paved alleys, hundreds of people, and fresh vegetables, fruits, fish, meat, spices, dairy, homemade products, and many local specialties filling the stalls and Meze lunch at Modiano.
• The tour could not end without a visit to one of the citys oldest confectioneries for a sample of siropiasta. These syrupy sweets are still made from the original recipes that Greek refugees brought with them during the1920s from Istanbul and Asia Minor, the perfect Thessaloniki food to finish off this tour and aid your digestion.
• Evening dinner will be on to Athonos Square, where you will be amazed by beautiful scenery that compliments the numerous old-world ouzeris and small taverns.
• Visit one of the best ouzeris in the city and taste meze accompanied with ouzo or tsipouro – some flavours you won’t be forgetting in a hurry, that’s for sure.
• Accommodation: Thessaloniki.
Day 9: Excursions, wine tour, wine tasting
• Today we will head to one of the most historic places in Greece and the old capital of the ancient Macedonia state.
• The ancient capital of the Macedonian empire, this has been a wine producing region since antiquity. Archaeological findings have depicted Dionysus the Greek god of wine.
• Some of the most important remains are the palace, lavishly decorated with mosaics and painted stuccoes, and the burial ground, with more than 300 tumuli, some of which date from the 11th century B.C. The tomb of the Macedonian King Philip, father of Alexander the Great, is recognised as a Monument of world heritage by UNESCO. Philip’s tomb, complete with its unique valuables, are kept in a specially designed museum.
• The first and the second capital of Macedonia, Vergina and Pella, give to the visitors the whole history of Macedonia with the spectacular findings of the royal graves in the outstanding museum of Vergina and the brand new museum of Pella. The archaeological sites are 2 of the most interesting in Greece.
• From here, we will continue to Naoussa, the area of Xinomavro. The area of Naoussa is known for the VQPRD Naoussa’ made exclusively of Xinomavro.
• Wine tasting in one of the eleven wineries in the area. From Xinomavro and the other red varieties cultivated in the region, mainly Merlot and Syrah, are produced the regional wines of Imathia, a white Blanc de noirs and a fleshy and opulent red that endures through time.
• Esperides hotel Naoussa offers relaxing atmosphere, and with our dinner arranged at the hotel we have nothing to worry about, except what wine to choose to accompany our dinner, specially prepared for us with local recipes
Day 10: Excursion, wine tour, wine tasting, transfer
• Morning departure for the Macedonian hinterland. This mountainous region of Greece has become a large wine-producing region.
• One of the highlights is Kastoria, an ancient centre known for its fur productions, beautifully situated on Lake Orestiada. The town of Kastoria, renowned center of the fur industry and also famous for its lake and 75 Byzantine churches. A Neolithic lake settlement, 7000 years old, was discovered here, and you will have the opportunity to stroll through and admire the reconstruction of the village which represents the contemporary musicological concept.
• Wine tasting in one of the few of the wineries: Amyndio Winery, Kir Yianni Amyndio Winery, Voyatzis Estate, Zandes Winery.
• Keep driving south direction Meteora and Kalambaka where we will stay for the night.
• Dinner at Kalambaka.

After breakfast drive north direction Meteora with a stop on our way to Thermopylae.
Meteora is a must-see on any trip to Greece.
Here are some of the most ancient, active monasteries on all of Greece, and they are perched miraculously atop the mountains along the Pinios River. Meteora where we step and see the world famous Byzantine monasteries that are perched precariously on summits of grey rock pinnacles of varied and beautiful shapes. Their history goes back to the 14th century when the monks sought refuge in the Cliffside caves then fled higher to build the original wooden shelters, later transformed into monasteries. Meteora where the fantastic and breathtaking Byzantine monasteries are perched on top of huge grey and reddish pillars. Monks seeking isolation and spiritual salvation first built those monasteries in the 14th century. They are veritable Byzantine museums exhibiting superb icons, old manuscripts and unique mosaics and frescoes.
Accommodation Kalambaka
(Breakfast – Lunch – Dinner)

Day 4. MAINLAND / DELPHI

Delphi-the ancient sanctuary of Apollo. We will gain a greater understanding of the Greek religious heritage and their influence on the early Christian church. We visit the museum where we will marvel at the site of the Charioteer, a bronze statue so delicate we will see his eyelashes. We will see the Temple of Apollo and the Castalia Springs Ending the visit we drive west the southern coastal line of Mainland and from the mainland, we drive south direction to Peloponesse.
Ending the visit we leave Delphi and through Galaxidi / Nafpaktos / Antirion – Rio we pass to Peloponnese and ancient Olympia. Olympia is situated in a fertile valley full of splendor surrounded by hills and light green forests. The incense and the holy atmosphere of the surroundings along with the classical architecture of the ancient buildings make this place unique in the world. Accommodation Olympia
Accommodation OLYMPIA
(Breakfast + Lunch + Dinner)

Day 6. PELOPONNESE: OLYMPIA / PYLOS
From Olympia, drive 2 hours and reach Pylos, a Mycenaean capital, and palace, the traditional home of Nestor (from Homer’s Odyssey), located near the modern city of Pylos. A visit to the old Navarino castle and you will enjoy the wonderful panorama that unfolds in front of you, the view from Palaikastro hill is unique in all directions. Dinner at local restaurant with a variety of local specialties.
Accommodation Pylos.
(Breakfast – Lunch – Dinner)

Day 7. PELOPONNESE: PYLOS / AGIA THEODORA AT VASTA / SPARTA.
From Pylos, drive 2 hours and reach the little church of Agia Theodora at Vasta. Why visit this little church? In the green-clad gully, near Vasta village, there certainly has been a miracle.
Whether it is created by God or nature we are unable to tell. On the roof of the small church of Saint Theodora seventeen bigger and smaller trees (Holm-oaks, maples and other) have grown in an impressive way embracing and supporting the temple. Their roots are invisible both on the outside and in the inside of the church. Perhaps they run through the stone-built walls and constitute a miracle of nature, perhaps, a Devine’s hand has woven and maintained their clustering. Lunch at the near restaurant with a variety of local specialties. After lunch drive direction Sparta where we accommodate.
Accommodation Sparta
(Breakfast – Lunch – Dinner)
Sparta: the pride, simplicity, duty, courage, strength of the Spartan-led to the legendary Thermopiles, the most heroic battle of all seasons. Native soil of brave Sparta has fought against many invaders and is considered the cornerstone of resistance throughout the centuries.

Day 8. PELOPONESSE: MYSTRAS / NAFPLION / MYCENAE / EPIDAVROS/ ATHENS.
Mystras: The one time capital of Byzantium, the medieval town of Mystras is mounted on Taigetos’ slope. It is protected by an impregnable fortress (the Kastro), which was built in 1249 by the Frankish prince Guillaume de Villehardouin.
Morning, Mystras, the Byzantine acropolis, the monasteries of Lakonia the bare and wild slopes of Mani, and Sparta. Ending the visit we do one and a half hours drive north direction Nafplion. Lunch at Nafplion.
After lunch, we drive 20 minutes to Mycenae to visit the archaeological site and the museum. The Mycenaean civilization flourished during the period roughly between 1600 BC when Helladic culture in mainland Greece was transformed under influences from Minoan Crete, and 1100 BC, when it perished with the collapse of Bronze-Age civilization in the eastern Mediterranean.
