Visit the archaeological site of ancient Corinth, an important trading city in Greek and Roman times that stood at the meeting point of southern and northern Greece. Explore the ruined temples, bathhouse, forum and theater, and see the bema — a stone platform where it’s believed St Paul once stood in front of gathered judges. We will drive the Corinthian wine route which covers most of the wine growing zone of the PDO Nemea wines. This is the largest in Greece, both in the area of vineyards and in production (2nd on a geographic area). We will visit a winery and taste local and foreign varieties. The vineyard of Nemea is the kingdom of Agiorgitiko, but it is also planted elsewhere in the Peloponnese, Greece and … in the world. It is located on the periphery of the closed geological basin of the Mantinea Plateau and is connected to the complex system of natural sinks that characterize the aquifer. Among the findings of the cave are human bones and earthenware utensils. One of the places in the cave of Kapsia is named ‘Hall of the Wonders’ where explosive colors of red, yellow and blue create a work of art of incomparable beauty made of nature itself.
We will taste the wine of Arcadia and will visit two wineries.
Arcadia has a lot to tell about wine and it is no accident that the god Dionysus and his faithful follower Panas, according to mythology, lived in Mainalo. There, among the mountains of Parnonas and Mainalos are hidden the vineyards of the strong PDO zone of Mantineia. Approximately 5,500 acres are cultivated with one of the most important white Greek varieties, Moschofilero. Finally, we return back to Athens and the afternoon is free.

Meteora where we step and see the world famous Byzantine monasteries that are perched precariously on summits of grey rock pinnacles of varied and beautiful shapes. Their history goes back to the 14th century when the monks sought refuge in the Cliffside caves then fled higher to build the original wooden shelters, later transformed into monasteries. Meteora where the fantastic and breathtaking Byzantine monasteries are perched on top of huge grey and reddish pillars. Monks seeking isolation and spiritual salvation first built those monasteries in the 14th century. They are veritable Byzantine museums exhibiting superb icons, old manuscripts and unique mosaics and frescoes.

Day 7. PELOPONNESE: PYLOS / AGIA THEODORA AT VASTA / SPARTA.
From Pylos, drive 2 hours and reach the little church of Agia Theodora at Vasta. Why visit this little church? In the green-clad gully, near Vasta village, there certainly has been a miracle.
Whether it is created by God or nature we are unable to tell. On the roof of the small church of Saint Theodora seventeen bigger and smaller trees (Holm-oaks, maples and other) have grown in an impressive way embracing and supporting the temple. Their roots are invisible both on the outside and in the inside of the church. Perhaps they run through the stone-built walls and constitute a miracle of nature, perhaps, a Devine’s hand has woven and maintained their clustering. Lunch at the near restaurant with a variety of local specialties. After lunch drive direction Sparta where we accommodate.
Accommodation Sparta

Mystras: The one time capital of Byzantium, the medieval town of Mystras is mounted on Taigetos’ slope. It is protected by an impregnable fortress (the Kastro), which was built in 1249 by the Frankish prince Guillaume de Villehardouin.
Morning, Mystras, the Byzantine acropolis, the monasteries of Lakonia the bare and wild slopes of Mani, and Sparta. Ending the visit we do one and a half hours drive north direction Nafplion. Lunch at Nafplion.
After lunch, we drive 20 minutes to Mycenae to visit the archaeological site and the museum.
